The Lure of Advertising

Its presence all pervasive, with influence we find,
Seeks lodgement in our pocket, or to lure a wayward mind.
It believes it is essential, like life blood through the veins.
Expected, hardly noticed.
Yes, advertising reigns.

The brands…………. Vast corporations, ensure an endless flow.
Intrusive to our thinking,
All humanity doth know.
Its appetite voracious.
What peace and ease do say?
Their efforts gently drowning.
Mid tide of ads that sway.

We managed well, before it appeared to rule our days.
How can we do without it,
To return to natural ways?

With intent to drive opinion and direct should we ask why?
The unending global efforts.
That delight when we comply.

It stunts our evolution,
Leads humanity to slow.
Beware of this distraction.
Are its prospects deemed to grow?

Be free, no more compliant, nor let those minds condone
‘Be free’, the latest jingle and independence own.
